Characters History: Dad, Grandma, and Aunt killed fighting Kyuubi. Grandfather died mysteriously on a mission in the Mist Village, when she was 6. Mom was killed in childbirth (me). Best friend Aoi, her sister, and her parents were killed mysteriously in the night while she was spending the night. She was four. Her dog, Takeo, was killed when she was 7.
Somewhere down the line of the Kono Clan, someone married outside of the Clan to one of Haku's realitives, and generation to generation, she became Haku's cousin.
She knew Haku and Zabuza personally. ..kinda. She met Haku before his parents were killed, and before he joined Zabuza.

Her mom was from the Land of Birds and her dad was from the Land of Snow.. Or.. the other way around.. (Something like that.)

She had a Phoenix Spirit placed in her during her birth; she doesn't know about it. (So confusing.)

*There is a Jutsu that the Kono Clan had mastered for each one of them that did have what they needed for the Jutsu. It's like a Kekkei Genkai of sorts, but it's not classified as a bloodlimit, but as a regular Jutsu.:
Spirit Separation Jutsu. It allows the user (if they posses one of the spirits in their body) to literally seperate their own body from the Spirit to battle together against an enemy. Because the Kono Clan used to seal the Spirits in a 'chosen one', not all of the Clan had a Spirit. Ones that did would have to learn and master the Jutsu. In order to fully control the Jutsu when it took place, there was usually two or three of the 'chosen one's to perform the Jutsu together. Unlike the tailed demons, the Spirits could be taken out of the host body without damaging it. Unfortunately, only few people learned to control them completely.
If someone from the Clan had a Spirit in them, one of their heirs would not definately have it.
The most common way to tell if it's a 'chosen one' is when the child is born there is a marking (tattoo, if you will) on their foreheads, or any part of the body. The color, design, ect. of the 'tattoo' determines what Spirit they have. When they grow older the markings fade.
No other reports of this have been recorded in other Clans.

So it's kinda like a Kekkei Genkai.
